            These lyrics have so much meaning to me. I feel like they just came straight out of my heart. And the meaning changes depending on different circumstances. I have a lot of anger right now and they make sense of that anger for me. I am also missing my dad this Father's Day, my first Father's day with out him. I think about him every day, which never occurred while he was living...
Just as in the song, I can never leave the past behind, memories haunt me so terribly.

Kodak Brownie Reflex

The Kodak Brownie Reflex Synchro model was manufactured from Sept 1941-May 1952 in the US and from 1946 to May 1960 in the UK; some were also made in Canada. Thus overall the model had a 20 year production run. The synchro model had a two-pin flash connector below the taking lens, and had the shutter selector inverted.

Through the Viewfinder photography (TtV) is a photographic technique in which a photograph is shot with one camera through the viewfinder of a second camera. The viewfinder thus acts as a kind of lens filter.^[1] The most popular method involves using a digital camera as the image taking camera and an intact twin-lens reflex camera (TLR) or pseudo-TLR as the "viewfinder" camera.^[2] TLRs typically have square waist-level viewfinders, with the viewfinder plane at 90 degrees to the image plane. The image in a TLR viewfinder is laterally reversed, i.e. it is a mirror image. Most photographers use a cardboard tube or similar 'contraption' to connect the two cameras. This serves to eliminate stray light and prevent reflections appearing on the viewfinder glass or on the lens of the imaging camera.

wasting the day

I have been sitting at the computer for hours, and I have achieved very little. But I have had a lot of fun. I am currently addicted to Pinterest. Much of what I am posting on the blog now gets pinned as well.
Here are a few DIY projects that I really enjoy.

Artist Book

    I wrote this text a long long time ago as part of a plan to create an artist book. I found it in my "archives" while searching for sea creatures.

      Marine  biologists  installed  a  camera  at  the  bottom  of  the  ocean  and  filmed  a  group  of  sea stars'  miniscule  movements  for  over  five  days.  By  viewing  the  visual  record  at twenty  times actual  time,  adult  sea  stars  appear  to  engage  in playful  behavior.  One  researcher  described  the  behavior  as  clowning  around,  another  thought  that  perhaps  the  animals’  amiable  interactions were  related  to  mating.  These  researchers established  only  one  point  of  agreement,  that  they  could  no longer  rely  on  their  own  eyes for valid observation.

I never got the artist book completed, but I still really like this piece of  writing. Maybe someday.

I am working on another Spoonflower fabric design, I am thinking it will make nice cafe curtains for my Mom's beach house. As usual I am overwhelmed with ideas and options. The last picture is where I am at as of now.

Tammis Keefe

              I bought this charing vintage handkerchief at  an estate sale that designed and signed by Tammis Keefe.
The pattern is black and white asterisks, stars against a blue sky with a rope border. Gorgeous colors, the blue is a rich almost teal blue. 
             When I researched this hanky, I found my new favorite designer...
Tammis Keefe is one of the great names of hankie and textile collecting. She was born in 1913, and in the 1940s worked as a textile print designer, designing prints for home furnishing textiles. She began designing handkerchiefs for Kimbal scarves in the late 1940s or early 1950s. 

                               

Michael Miller designs is promoting a line of new Tammis Keefe designs. And all the royalties will help fund Cancer research.

 

Vintage and more

I spent the last couple of weeks packing and planning for the "Funky Flea Market" last Saturday June 2 in Syracuse. It went very well and I have no interest in unpacking, but I am trying to get back to a regular work schedule and photograph and post items items to Etsy. here are a few so far....

I found this dead bee in the photo studio (that is really the basement), I couldn't resist taking a picture.

 The felt ball flowers are at Thread. After I made them and counted up the costs (not including my time) they cost me $50 to make, so they are not really for sale, as I don't think anyone else would spend $100 on them. I am working on small groupings in little vases (they will hopefully be a Thread this week).
