more stilts

I am now obsessed with stilts, more specifically, images of people using stilts. This image is from the 29th of May, 1939: Four men wearing stilts and evening dress tower over an intrigued crowd at the Keg Meg fair in Maidstone, Kent.

Seeing stilts that high in Kent probably means that these men worked in the hop fields of kent where hop-stringers regularly walked on stilts up to 14ft high. A job that is now done from the front loader of a farm tractor.
